For anyone who hasn't been to the studio tour and loves Harry Potter, I would totally recommend that you book your tickets online and travel down to Watford as it is just fantastic. I knew some of what to expect as I had seen a few YouTube clips and my mum and brother had been before so they had shown us some photos but what I didn't expect truly amazed me. Originally I was going to write a walk through but the studio tour is full of surprises, I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone.
But what you can expect to see is lots and lots of props from the films. Walking around the studio you'll find Hagrid's Hut, Dumbledore's office, the Gryffindor Common room, smaller items such as the golden egg, each of the Horcruxes, a remembrall, the Triwizard cup and so many more! I would have loved to snap as many photos of the smaller objects but that would have taken a very long time especially as my camera kept playing up. If you take a digital camera just make sure you find the right settings because my camera started strobing. The lighting in the studios isn't the greatest, there's so much going on so they have different lightings for different parts of the studio. I ended up taking photos of the bigger set designs, it was my first time visiting so I didn't want to spend all my time looking at everything through my camera. I did get over 100 photos, some turning out to be quite good than expected. We did have quite a lot of people on our day so I managed to keep most heads out of my good shots!
My highlight of the day had to be seeing the huge model of Hogwarts, it was so beautiful, I was spellbound when I saw it and I didn't want to leave the room. The music playing in the background make it even more magical and I admit that I actually had a few tears in my eyes. I think it was because, growing up watching and reading Harry Potter just made it that extra special visiting the place where the films were created. It just hit me how much I really do love these stories, I had a sense of euphoria visiting the studio tour. I highly recommend visiting.
Next on my travel bucket list is Hobbiton.
