Isn't it lovely to see Spring on it's way? Minus storm Doris which was terrible! I'm glad I only popped out to the shops in the morning because it certainly got worse in the afternoon. There were bins toppled over, rubbish in the streets and flying everywhere and peoples fences falling down. There was even a tree over the road that had completely uprooted and had fallen onto the path towards peoples houses! How did everyone else get on through the storm?
Other than the storm we have had some really lovely sunny weather. Last week I was thinking about how much I wanted to buy some daffodils. So I bought myself a bunch of daffodils from the shop the other day to put in my empty coffee jar, which makes the perfect vase! Daffodils really do brighten up a room and I always love having a bunch of flowers to stand on my bedside table.
Although I've always said I'm more of an Autumn person, I have so many favourite things about Spring. One of them is when we start to see the brighter mornings and evenings. I love seeing the sun creep through my curtains in the mornings, which makes getting up earlier so much more easier. Although I am so used to getting up early in the mornings, I'm really not the biggest fan of getting ready for the day when it's still dark outside. I love being able to look out of the window in the morning to a hopefully sunny day and be able to do my make up in natural light!
Then when the evenings are brighter I love it when I can keep my curtains open for longer and the lights don't go on till around 5:30 and 6. Of course when it's Winter I love the cosiness of the evenings. But when I was alone and coming home from work I hated being out in the dark evenings, especially when my shifts finished around 5 which was when the evening was getting towards it's darkest. Although there were lots of people around waiting for the same bus I still felt a little anxious, not to mention I always avoided the field route to my house which at night was so quiet and wasn't lit up as much. So I'm definitely happy to see the lighter evenings back again!
I also love being able to photograph later on in the day. I find it rather difficult to take photos in the Winter, especially if I'm taking photos indoors. When I was photographing some of my baking series, I always had to bake early in the morning so I could work with the natural light as our kitchen doesn't get much light in the Winter afternoons. But I love baking in the Spring time when the sun is shining through the kitchen and I can photograph with all the natural light.
What do you like most about the Spring light?
