Things To See & Do This Winter

Although the Winter solstice begins on the 21st of December, I definitely think it's feeling much more like Winter each day. As Autumn moves into Winter I have my list of things to see and do this Winter along with some festive ideas for Christmas!

ADVENTURE

:: Wrap up warm in cosy layers and take a walk through the nature trails, parks and woodlands. Take your camera to snap away at the Winter landscape changes.

:: Visit a local Christmas market.

:: Enjoy a wander in the snow or frost (fingers crossed for some more snow this Winter).

:: Have a go at ice skating.

:: Visit a castle or an estate. Most will have events going on throughout this festive season and into the new year.

CREATE & MAKE

:: Forage and collect pinecones to display around the home.

:: Make your own hot chocolate. Try different flavours like peppermint, gingerbread and chocolate orange.

:: Make a DIY Winter wreath or garland for the home.

:: Make Christmas tree decorations using foraged finds or shop bought craft materials.

:: Bake some Winter treats such as all things Gingerbread, truffles, fruit cake, mince pies and shortbread.

:: Gather photos from the year and make a scrapbook or photo album.

:: Make a delicious porridge for breakfast. My favourite is cinnamon porridge!

SLOW DOWN & BE COSY

:: Prepare your Winter home with cosy throws and decorations. Bring out the Winter coat, hat, gloves and scarves for your Winter wardrobe.

:: Enjoy a cosy night in watching festive films. My favourites are The Holiday and Love Actually!

:: Embrace Winter mornings, noticing the pink and peach colours of the sky whilst the sun rises. If there's been a frost, notice how it glistens on the roof tops and across the lawns in the sunlight.

:: Cosy up and read a book or magazine. I love to read the festive magazines around this time of year to look out for any baking ideas or DIY inspiration. Magazines such as The Simple Things and Creative Countryside also have beautiful seasonal content.

:: Treat yourself to a new pair of cosy Winter pyjamas.

:: Spend some mindful moments and set goals or little reminders for the new year.
